March 2006Advanced Micro Device, Inc. launching three new model from the family of Opteron Dual Core processor. This processor is energy thrift designed, so expected can lessen the consumption of energy and minimize the use of cooler at server.
The three of AMD Opteron Dual-Core is consisted from model 885 for enterprise class servers which can accommodate till 8 processor/16-core, model 285 for workstation and server which can accommodate 2 processor/4-core, and model 185 for workstation and server which can accommodate 1 processor/2-core. This processor will available in market in near time.
Besides offering dual-core technology natively, AMD Opteron processor is also offering significant thrift at enterprise datacenter. This processor work with same energy supply and cooler, like the single core version but in more hard duty moment.
Energy thrift supported by AMD Power Now! technology which available inside the processor. At the idle time, energy requirement can be pressed till 75%, so can minimize the energy use at overall. IBM, Sun Microsystems, and HP have expressed the readiness to launch their product using this processor.
