Like the previous news, this R600 GPU will have 512-bit memory controller, and support to GDDR3 and GDDR4 memory. Later, at the launching in end of March, R600 will attend as ATI Radeon X2900XTX, and available in two variant, namely OEM version and retail version. At OEM version, the video card more destined to be used at build-up computer, and have 12 inch board length dimension.

While for the retail version is destined for main consumer, and attend with the 9,5 inch board length dimension, and also equipped by dual-slot cooler solution. And the special of it, the cooler type use vapor chamber. Usually this cooler component is used at high-end CPU, but not surprise if used at high-end GPU.

From the reference, the video card which based on R600 GPU will had equal to 1 GB GDDR4 memory. But still available more reached choice for the R600 video card, which still use the GDDR3 memory in next month. The video Card will attend in Radeon X2900XT name, with 512 MB capacities, and also run in lower clock compared to Radeon X2900XTX version.

The other feature, still like GPU of Radeon family is Crossfire support. The difference is without the existence of master card and slave with internal bridge connection, and HDMI native integrated support. From energy requirement side, will available the 6-pin and 8-pin (2x4) additional power connector, even both still compatible with 6-pin power cable.

Even used graphic core naming is ATi Radeon X1250, it is still same as the previously generation graphic core, Radeon X700. New additional feature from the graphic core which base on X700 compared to previous X700 is the support in feature of AVIVO video processing. By AVIVO, graphic core of X1250 will be able to accelerating the video format of H.264 and VC-1 by hardware. Whereabouts the format is becoming the video standard which used by HD-DVD and Blu-Ray.

Then changed become Crossfire Xpress 1600, according to naming system of Radeon Xpress 3200. Now changed again become AMD 480X Crossfire. And the other name change ATI is Crossfire Xpress 3200 (RD580), the name will be changed become AMD 580X Crossfire.

Even the name of two chipset is changed, but the features is still the same like previous name.

For the release product, Radeon X1650XT video card will be launched in the first time by one of ATi main partner, Sapphire Technology. Radeon X1650XT from Sapphire will have 575 MHz core clock, and 1350 MHz clock memory in GDDR3 type. The Video Card will attend with two variant memory type, there is 256 MB and 512 MB. Even the data memory extensive still be limited in 128-bit, but fair enough for the class product.

From the price side, AMD suggest the standard price US$149 for the video card base on this GPU Radeon X1650XT. Look from the position and used architecture technology, seems that the new product will be placed to face directly to GPU Geforce 7600GT. Initially, Radeon X1650XT it's only attend in PCI Express interface form, and not too surprising if the consumer will find the product with AGP interface. Because there is no prohibition for video card producer to make the AGP series.

This is will become a big change among the OEM, and market retail. It is true, in this time RD485 chipset solution which arming the GPU X300, work good enough to run Vista. However, surely a GPU X700 will do it better. ATI is already having entered the final step, in develop of RS690 chipset. And so all the motherboard manufacturer, it's already finished their design. In average the motherboard producer will use the RS690 chipset as Northbridge, and with SB600 as Southbridge.

In this time, SB600 Southbridge has attended and ready for show off and motherboard Sapphire Pure Crossfire Northbridge PC-AM2RD580 product is one of the motherboard that used the SB600 chipset. As the next generation chipset, RS690 will use the GPU core integrated with Radeon X700. Architecturally, with the packaging of a GPU chip into motherboard chipset, there will be the cutting of pipeline unit in GPU X700; from 8 units become just 4 units. This happen because falling short of packet space of a chipset to accommodate all X700 core, which have 120 million transistor.

Integrated graphic of Ati, previously only have two unit of pipeline. So, with just only four units pipeline seems sensible enough. If success, this AMD ATi chip will become the cheap way to get the function of memory controller, chipset, graphic function and CPU altogether in a just one chip. This will make a highest integration class to reduce the price level of produce, so PC can be cheaper.

For the production process, in this time CPU have move to 65 nanometer production process. For the GPU, the producer are still "play" in 80 nanometer, but forecasted will move to 65 nanometer production process about next year. But for the shake of reaching target join the GPU and CPU, seems all technician of AMD ATi also will make a move to 65 nanometer production process. Even possible move to 45 nanometer production process, because the level of architecture complication that integrated in chip of GPU And CPU.
